We Have An Opportunity to Teach the Bible
During School Hours in Cape Fear
Decades ago, our nation systematically removed Bible education from the public school day. With LifeWise Academy, your community can bring it back.
WHY? The Need for Bible Education in Public Schools
It’s not hard to see what’s happening in our nation. Fear, division and strife rule the day. The life-giving Word of God is reaching fewer ears and eyes, especially among the next generation. Anxiety, depression and suicide are at all-time highs while church attendance, professions of faith and Bible literacy are at all-time lows. Now more than ever, students need the Bible.
WHAT? The opportunity of LifeWise Academy
Every week, tens of thousands of public school students attend LifeWise Bible classes during school hours. Under a little-known Supreme Court ruling, students can be released from public school during school hours to attend religious classes. LifeWise works with public schools to integrate a Bible class that is off school property, privately funded and parent permitted. The LifeWise plug-and-play model makes it possible for any community to offer Bible education to their public school students during school hours.
Where? Tens of thousands of public school students around the country attend LifeWise Bible classes each week, and it can happen here in the Cape Fear area also!
How? It starts with pastors and church members willing to support this in our public schools.
Christy Smith is the North Carolina State Director for Lifewise. Last year she met with interested Christ followers in Wilmington and Burgaw and established steering committees for New Hanover Schools and Pender County Schools.
Since I was her pastor before moving to Wilmington, I have invited Christy to speak to leaders here in the Cape Fear Network. We will host an Information Luncheon at our Network Office at 610 S College Rd. Wilimington.
When? Thursday April 30
11 am-lunch provided
